Front Door Migration

WHAT

We are actively migrating all customers to Azure Front Door. This will require some minor modifications to your DNS records with your domain host. 

WHY

Making this change will enhance your site's performance, security, and reliability - giving you and your members an improved experience. NOTE: Failing to make this change could lead to decreased performance and reliability and possibly complete site downtime.

HOW

We have a 4-minute video that gives you or your IT contact a walk-through on what changes to make.

If you are not familiar with editing DNS records, we highly recommend that you contact an IT professional.  If you do not have an IT consultant, many of our customers recommend working with Jason Wade with Site Trustee.  Jason offers Novi customers a special rate to perform this work.

Please make these updates as soon as possible to ensure best performance.

    There is no additional cost to your organization for Front Door. This is an important investment in our infrastructure, and Novi is picking up the tab.

For those of you who may be interested in the technical details, here is a bit more information. We are implementing Microsoft’s Azure Front Door, which is a powerful solution for protecting websites from malicious traffic due to its robust features and global reach. Here are a few key reasons for adding Front Door to our customers’ websites:

  • DDoS Protection: It provides built-in Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection, automatically detecting and mitigating attacks to keep your website online and responsive. What is DDoS?
  • Web Application Firewall (WAF): Front Door includes a Web Application Firewall that includes built-in bot detection. The firewall also allows us to remain nimble in our response to threats we detect.
  • By offloading SSL processing to servers that are geographically closer to users, it improves the performance of your website while ensuring secure connections for legitimate users.
  • Traffic Analytics: Front Door offers additional analytics and insights into traffic patterns, helping our team detect and respond to potential threats more effectively.
  • Global Load Balancing: Microsoft Front Door distributes traffic across multiple servers worldwide, ensuring that your website remains fast and available even under heavy load or during a localized outage.
  • Caching. Front Door allows us to cache requests and pages, ultimately speeding up the experience for your legitimate users.
  • Cybersecurity Investment: Microsoft invests more than $1 billion annually on cybersecurity research and development.
